ASPIRE High Goes Linux

Over one year ago I received an email telling me about how I could get a free CD of a Linux operating system called Ubuntu. I got several and tried them out on various computer without even effecting their current systems. I was amazed what what it could do and that you could do this all for free...

Windows is great and most of the world uses it, but when I decided that our school could no longer afford the added expense of virus removal and constant spyware, I started investigating Linux. What did it find? I found a system that could be installed on nearly any old PC and make it look and act like you were running Windows Vista, but better and faster. I also found out that some entire, large school system are using Linux to cut costs and save their techs a lot of time in the process.

The OS (operating system) I chose was PCLinuxOS. Ubuntu is the most popular, but I had problems installing this on older PCs and steered away from deploying this as a universal system on our network. PCLOS, as I will call it for short can be downloaded and burned on one CD. It contains all the software you will ever need in a typical educational setting. You can find more about it here at these links:
