Bullets how to and how not 20 minutes
Keys to using bullets
Note: Do not use the space bar to indent text. This is a common error which can really mess up the entire format of a page
. For example: your cursor is on the left hand side of the page and you want to move it over a few pixels - you may be tempted to click the space bar several times. But t his will mess up a lot of your formatting now and cause more formatting problems later. This is where you would use the indent button or bullets. In this lesson we will cover using bullets and not the indent button, though this is a very helpful button.
- Creating a list

- To make a sublist just go to the next line (Enter Key) and now you have a new number. Then click TAB key and you have a sub number. For example
Top of the List is 1 then Next Item is 1.1 and Test is 1.1.1 - But that can be confusing if you really want to reference or outline your data.
- One select the area to alter
- Two choose the icon from the tool bar (see image)

- Then you will get this window and choose outline (see image)

- Once you choose the layout you want your list will change. Now you have a clearer outline.
- How to go down a line with out a new number appearing? Just hold the space bar down. (Just like in MS Office). So
1. Test
could have text right under it and then
2. Test would be a continued numbering after this non-numbering moment. - How to unindent or Promote the item up or down a level in the numbering
Step One

Step Two
.png)
- How to continue numbering later. Say you want to add a new paragraph. Click the End Numbering button

Then you can type away in DEFAULT FORMAT mode.
Once you want to go back to the number list just click the button to turn the list on.

- Oops now the numbering is starting all over again! So how do we 'Resume' or start at a different level?
First put the cursor at the end of the last line of numbering. Then Press enter. Now you have a new line. But you want to move this under all the new text so see step two.
Step One
Step Two By pushing the move down button your bullet will move all the way past the next chunk of text but still keep it's count.
Now your bullet is continued and It is under a break in the bullets. - So you have gone past the LEFT hand border?
I have seen this happen before. I really think it happens when the backbutton or other methods are used to escape an bullet list. If you use the Bullet Off button (see image)
Or if you are stuck in there already click the Unindent button or Reindent (see image)
Or another way which is good to know for other Format issues (see image)
